Yesterday, FinanceFeeds was the first report an outage which affected Australian FX brokerage AxiTrader’s website for over three hours which began at around 12.00pm GMT and extended into the afternoon.

In Australia, this was the middle of the night, and AxiTrader’s IT department was very quick off the mark in investigating the matter, and tracking it down to being an internet hosting issue which affected several other websites in the region.

Today, the Australian division of Japanese electronic trading giant DMM Securities has been blighted by a similar issue, with introducing brokers in the region having contacted FinanceFeeds to explain that some of their clients are experiencing difficulties in logging in.

DMM Securities has notified its clients of the intermittent outages, by issuing a commercial statement as follows:

“Please be assured that we are investigating and resolving this with the highest priority. There is no resolution time at this stage. We will inform once service has been fully restored. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Whilst some clients have contacted their introducing broker and have interacted on forums, it is clear that the general understanding is that this is related to the same hosting issue as the one which has affected a number of websites in Australia over the last few days, and not the result of a denial of service (DOS) attack by hackers.
