AvaTrade signs “Lightning Bolt” as brand ambassador

Dublin-based forex broker AvaTrade today announced that it has concluded a sponsorship deal with the Jamaican sprinting icon Usain Bolt, the fastest human ever timed.

Neither the full financial terms nor the duration of the deal have been disclosed, but we can guess it’s not a small figure since Bolt’s sponsorship portfolio includes high-profile partners. His list also includes six-figures deals — the most lucrative being with Puma, from which he earns more than $10 million each year until 2025.

Bolt also signed endorsement deals with Gatorade, Hublot, Virgin Media, Visa, and Nissan Motors and even has his own character in the Temple Run gaming franchise. In 2018, he signed a deal to become a brand ambassador for PayPal-owned international money transfer service Xoom.

By signing the partnership, AvaTrade targets new clientele that are mainly fans of athletics and marathons sports. Given the popularity of the track star, the broker aims to achieve better exposure within Europe, where Bolt has a much higher profile than any other region.

Dáire Ferguson, CEO at AvaTrade, said: “Investors and athletes require a number of similar characteristics. They need to be driven, quick to react and dynamic to get to the top. This is why we’re so excited to be working alongside Usain Bolt, an individual who shares our views and outlook on what is required to achieve success.”

He continues: “Over the past few weeks, we have been inspired by the sporting excellence and professionalism shown by so many dedicated athletes, it makes it all more exciting for AvaTrade to join forces with one of the most iconic sportsmen of all time. As one of the most regulated and trusted brokers in the industry, we are delighted to have Usain Bolt representing our brand and working with us to promote our commitment in making trading accessible for everyone around the globe with our excellent customer support, educational guides, cutting-edge technology and intuitive platforms.”

Bolt has amassed 19 Olympic and World Championship gold medals since 2008 at the Beijing, London, and Rio de Janeiro Olympics. He also holds the world record in both the 100 meters and the 200 meters. His achievements in sprinting have earned him the media nickname “Lightning Bolt”, while his success has amassed a fortune in prize money and sponsorship deals.

“As a world-record breaker in the Olympics and World Championships, I’m always inspired by companies that are innovative and lead the way in their industry. AvaTrade provides the access and tools you need to take advantage of trading opportunities in real time, so I am very excited to work with AvaTrade and help them expand their brand to many more millions of investors world-wide. Be more Bolt!” added Usain Bolt.

Usain Bolt is not AvaTrade first venture into the sports partnership realm. The broker has upgraded its association with Manchester City in 2018 by becoming a global partner of the English Premier League football club.

Through this partnership, AvaTrade offers its customers exclusive City-related promotions, prizes and VIP trips to the club’s Etihad Stadium.
