BidX Markets taps James Roddy to head institutional sales

FCA-regulated, multi-asset liquidity solutions provider BidX Markets has onboarded FX industry veteran James Roddy to the role of its institutional sales manager.

Roddy has stepped into his new role earlier in June, according to information made public on his LinkedIn profile. He will help solidify BidX Markets’ operations in the wholesale foreign exchange market, bringing two decades of expertise in the FX space to the role.

The experience he accrued during his nearly 23 years tenure in the prime brokerage field likely influenced BidX’s decision to hire him to guide its institutional sales department.

Roddy served most recently at digital asset clearing network BOSONIC, based in London, where he was a sales director. Previously, he spent six years as business development manager at VIBHS Financial UK. Prior to that, he held an analogues position with ICM Capital between 2013 and 2016.

Other stops include different roles at Valbury Capital, ODL Securities, BGC Partners and TP ICAP, part of a career dating back to 1999.

Simon Blackledge, CEO and Founder of BidX Markets said: “As a growing trading solutions provider we have been expanding our team over the past months to maintain the highest level of service and support our professional clients have become used to. I’m delighted to be welcoming James Roddy to our team as our new Head of Institutional Sales. He has a remarkable network within the financial services industry and expert knowledge of the financial markets that is next to none.”

James Roddy BidX Markets’ new Head of Institutional Sales commented: “I’m incredibly pleased to be joining BidX Markets, a firm I was drawn to due to the integrity the business is built on and the respectable work ethic that it has become well known for. BidX Markets’ outstanding reputation in the industry and the high level of customer service it delivers professional clients is what makes me proud to be part of this team.”

He continued: “The firm is constantly evolving and enhancing its service offering to lead the way in terms of delivering the most advanced trading environment for professional traders. I’m excited to be working on some new pioneering projects which we’ll be announcing more of in the very near future.”

Launched in 2021, BidX Markets provides tailored access for brokers, asset managers, and funds to industry leading Tier 1 liquidity, connectivity, and distribution services.

The move to hire Roddy is clearly intended to boost bottom-line sales and expand the reach of BidX Markets’ operations in the prime brokerage field. The business targets mid-sized hedge funds and family offices with a dedicated institutional offering that the company expects to yield a lucrative market opportunity.

The BidX Markets founding team comprises of industry experts from Barclays Capital, LMAX, and BNP Paribas. The firm also introduces technology partners, including Beeks Financial Cloud, Your Bourse, and Gold-i.
