Bit.Country’s Community Kicks Off Metaverse Building In Preparation For Alpha Testnet Launch

FinanceFeeds Editorial Team

Bit.Country, of the most hotly-anticipated metaverse projects slated to launch later in the year, has gotten much closer to that milestone with the impending launch of Alpha Testnet.

The Alpha Testnet launch stands out due to the trust Bit.Country’s developers have placed in its community to test the platform, which will allow anyone to build their own metaverse.

Bit.Country aims to distinguish itself from established metaverse platforms such as Decentraland and The Sandbox, as it’s building a platform that will allow anyone to design and build their own virtual world, complete with maps, games, stores, tokenomics and governance. Bit.Country is built atop of the Metaverse.Network, a blockchain-based Web3 infrastructure platform that was built using the Substrate framework and runs atop of the Polkadot blockchain.

The defining characteristic of Bit.Country is that users can build their own virtual worlds, complete with a crypto-based economy that rewards anyone who visits and spends time within their metaverse. As well as individuals, brands will also be able to build their own metaverse, or launch decentralized applications within someone else’s metaverse, where they can showcase their own products and services.

Bit.Country really is all about its community of more than 40,000 users and delivering the metaverse platform they want, and so it makes perfect sense that the team would invite a select number of users, known as “Evangelists” to test the initial rollout of its platform. It has been a recipe for success, with Bit.Country reporting a “phenomenal engagement” with Evangelists that first began testing the platform on April 21.

“Simplicity and functionality of user control are commonly mentioned in the positive feedback,” the Bit.Country Metaverse Network team wrote in a post on Medium. “Customization of avatars with wearables and building structures in the Sandpit has been the most talked-about feature.”

Evangelists’ feedback was incredibly positive, with high praise for the simplicity and functionality of user control. Many favored the feature of customizing avatars with wearables and building structures in the Sandpit.

The launch will follow a number of important updates to the Bit.Country platform, including the addition of a new Bunker (pictured, above) feature. It will be a personal space for users to learn how to build with blocks, assets and NFTs, the team explained. A second key feature introduced last month was the Sandpit, which serves as a testing ground to try out new blocks and assets without burning BIT tokens. These are both key features essential to the success of the Alpha Testnet launch, giving early adopters a way to start testing their designs before they go ahead and start building out their Bit Countries.

The launch meanwhile, coincides with the rollout of a new user interface with much cleaner aesthetics and an easier building workflow that has reportedly been well received by Evangelists. In addition, Bit.Country added graphics updates that aim to improve the overall aesthetics of Bit.Country’s worlds, as well as improved security and a swathe of general bug fixes and other improvements.

The team also found time to reward the Bit.Country community for their avatar design efforts, announcing the 100 winners of its Avatar Wearable Design contest, where members voted for their favorite wearable designs. The winning designers were announced in this list, and each one will be provided with a limited edition wearable NFT sent to the wallet address of their choice once NFT minting functionality has been enabled on the platform.
