“With Cumberlidge, we are gaining an FX insider with the connections and expertise needed to help us turn the industry on its head with an agile payments and OTC infrastructure that’s fit for the digital age.”

Crypto banking and payments firm BVNK has appointed industry veteran Jonathan Cumberlidge as its FX Sales Director to help the firm disrupt legacy FX payments and OTC (over-the-counter) trading infrastructure and processes.

Based in London, the former Sales Director of Finalto will work with brokers and funds to design digital asset banking and payment solutions that help service demand from active traders for digital assets and payment methods.

BVNK’s solutions help broker-dealers extend their global reach, deploy treasury intelligently, and increase trading volumes across assets, the firm states.

Founded in September 2021, the fintech leverages partnerships with leading names within the ecosystem such as B2C2, Genesis, Modulr, Fireblocks, and Copper, to allow customers to bridge between fiat currencies and digital assets to manage payment, yield, trading, and custody.

Gaining an FX insider to turn industry on its head

Jesse Hemson-Struthers, Chief Executive Officer at BVNK, commented: “BVNK recently secured a $40 million funding round based on our vision for transforming financial services through blockchain-based cryptocurrencies. Our latest hire shows that we are turning these plans into a reality. With Cumberlidge, we are gaining an FX insider with the connections and expertise needed to help us turn the industry on its head with an agile payments and OTC infrastructure that’s fit for the digital age.”

Jonathan Cumberlidge, FX Sales Director at BVNK, added: “I share BVNK’s view that the traditional banking and payment infrastructure is not fit for purpose in the evolving digital asset space. BVNK’s team of finance and crypto experts combined with the strength of its financial backers makes it best placed to deliver the radical improvements to digital banking and payments infrastructure that the industry requires.”

The core services BVNK provides within this exchange are banking, cross-border crypto payments, crypto payment processing, and OTC trading.

Jonathan Cumberlidge joins BVNK from Finalto, formerly TradeTech Group, where he was Sales Director. Prior to that, he was with Saxo Bank for two years and a half leading relationship management strategy and UK private sales.

He joined the FX industry in 2009 at GFT, climbing his way to the top of the sales and business development division and ultimately being appointed Director, Sales EMEA by the time GFT was acquired by GAIN Capital.
