Earthport announces appointment of David Josephs and Leanna Kuo to BoD

Maria Nikolova

David Josephs is currently Vice President and Head of Visa Direct at Visa Europe and Leanna Kuo is Vice President North America Corporate Accounting at Visa Inc.

Provider of cross-border payment services Earthport plc (LON:EPO) has earlier today announced two additions to its Board of Directors.

David Adam Josephs (age 53) and Leanna Laiying Kuan Kuo (age 42) have been appointed to the board of Earthport as directors with immediate effect. David Josephs is currently Vice President and Head of Visa Direct at Visa Europe, whereas Leanna Kuo is, at present, Vice President North America Corporate Accounting at Visa Inc. The on-going appointments remain conditional on receipt of FCA approval.

The appointments are unveiled shortly after the announcement by Visa International Service Association on May 8, 2019 that its offer to acquire the issued share capital of Earthport has become unconditional in all respects.

Earlier in May, Visa Inc. (NYSE:V) announced it acquired control of Earthport. The acquisition will make it possible for Visa clients to enable individuals, businesses and governments to utilize Visa to send and/or receive money through bank accounts around the world.

Earthport’s technology is set to allow Visa to further expand and scale Visa Direct’s rapidly growing portfolio of use cases, including funds disbursements, peer-to-peer payments, cross border payments, marketplace payouts, and bill payments. Over the last 12 months, Visa Direct’s transaction count growth has continued to be over 100% – showing the demand for faster, smarter money movement among consumers and businesses around the world.
