Ethereum scaling solution Optimism taps Ankr as latest RPC provider

Web3 infrastructure provider Ankr has been accredited as a Remote Procedure Call provider to Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution Optimism.

This alliance names Ankr as an RPC provider that enables various applications to interact with 17 blockchains including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana, and Avalanche.

Running RPC node infrastructure helps expand Optimism’s public RPC resources where significant hardware investments and technical proficiency are often seen as barriers to getting started. Ankr’s API solutions should accelerate implementation timelines while also providing Optimism users with more timely and accurate data.

Ankr’s infrastructure already allows developers to gain access to dozens of leading blockchain platforms, including Ethereum, Polygon and Polkadot, without the need to go through complex technical details.

“We love what Optimism is building for the future of Ethereum. Ankr is happy to do our part to provide a fast and reliable RPC service for their users,” said Greg Gopman, the Chief Marketing Officer at Ankr.

Ankr empowers Web3 users with a platform where they can deploy nodes on Proof of Stake (PoS) blockchains, stake their PoS tokens and access DeFi applications. Ankr’s native cryptocurrency, ANKR coin, serves as a payment method across the platform.  Ankr Protocol is said to serve roughly six billion blockchain requests per day across more than 50 networks.

“Apps and integrations choose to build in the Optimism ecosystem because they feel aligned with our values and culture and appreciate the tooling and technical options available to them,” said Matthew Slipper, Head of Engineering at OP Labs. “In response to requests from our community, we’re excited to offer Ankr as an additional Optimism RPC provider.”

Optimism is a layer two scaling solution that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. The protocol uses rollup technology to help scale the Ethereum blockchain and increase throughput. Similar to other scaling solutions, the goal of the platform is to address pain points on the Ethereum network, namely speeding up transactions and reducing gas costs.

This partnership with Ankr also caters to dApp developers looking for additional Optimism RPC endpoints. Now they can access Optimism Public and Premium RPCs, make request calls, and query on-chain information that mirrors the results of running a self-hosted Optimism full node.
