immigrantsThe leaders of the countries of the European Union (EU) is committed to its extraordinary meeting on illegal migration, to provide additional resources in an attempt to stem the tide of illegal migrants in the Mediterranean. Brussels will start preparations and a military operation against human traffickers responsible for sending thousands of refugees in rickety boats at sea.

Last week, only for one day in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea died over 800 people in several maritime accidents. In this regard, the EU countries have agreed to triple funding for border operations and patrols in the Mediterranean to nearly 120 million EUR. Top EU diplomat Federica Mogerini will examine diplomatic capabilities of military units to attack ships of traffickers. The British Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged his country would send three ships and three helicopters in the Mediterranean to participate in rescue operations. Vessels will send more Germany, France, Belgium and other countries, as well as experts who work with immigrants rescued.

“Europe declared war on the traffickers and the Union will cooperate with international partners”, said European Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos.

According to the International Organization for Migration from the beginning of the year in the waters of the Mediterranean have left more than 1,700 people – more than 30 times more than the same time last year.

According to the President of the European Commission (EC), Jean-Claude Juncker way to mastering the refugee crisis goes through legal immigration. But his proposals were not adopted by the leaders of the Member States. Match Juncker has tried to ensure the settlement of 10 thousand refugees in Europe. Instead, it was adopted to launch a pilot project for establishing only those who have received protection. Juncker insisted, however, that by mid-May is possible to adopt a resolution on legal immigration.

Without a clear solution remains the issue of distribution of refugees in Europe, which is the most vocal Germany. In the EU currently reside over 36 thousand refugees only from Syria, with about 30 thousand. Of them in Germany. Last year in Germany and received over 200 thousand Asylum – a third of all their applications across the EU. In Germany, Sweden, Italy and France have submitted two thirds of all applications for asylum to refugees.

FIA urges CFTC to regulate use cases rather than AI itself

“We urge the CFTC to refrain from crafting new regulations that generally regulate AI because this approach presents certain well-known pitfalls. By approaching the issue from the perspective of AI as a technology, rather than the use case for the technology, corresponding regulations would likely necessitate a definition of AI. We anticipate that any attempt to properly define AI would be very challenging and require considerable resources.”
