Exclusive: New company launches in Australia, headed by former CMC Markets senior executive Emma Brassington
Australia has carved out a very good and well deserved reputation as a high quality business environment for electronic trading, however new entrants to the market have been scant until now. We speak to Carter Bond Capital about its new managed account service for alternative OTC and exchange listed products
Australia has been a region in which conservatism has met with good business ethic, a dynamic driven by two factors, the first being the very high standard of industry participants in the Antipodean nation, and the other being the stringent and well respected understanding of the electronic trading industry by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
By way of this duo of circumstances, Australia’s electronic trading industry expanded on the long established commodities and raw materials sector in Sydney, and subsequently rose to be a bastion of good quality for Asia Pacific participants to approach Western companies.
British CFD companies paved the way forward for Australia’s high end appeal, assisted by some very well recognized local companies, however the current firms became a status quo for the de facto landscape and have remained so during the past few years largely because of ASIC’s reluctance to issue new margin FX licenses, thus preserving the good name of the region with established companies committed to Australian business.
This year, however, a new company has come to fruition, however, and is led by Emma Brassington, whose career includes nine years as Sales & Operations Manager at CMC Markets between March 2004 and September 2013.
Ms Brassington explained to FinanceFeeds today that she has garnered substantial experience during her career at pretty much every stage of the customer journey within the online trading and investment sector, including within sales & customer onboarding, compliance, and with corporate partners. She has also worked with leading international teams at global corporations as well small boutique investment firms.
The new venture, which has been founded under the name Carter Bond Capital, is an Australian owned and regulated boutique investment manager offering alternative investment solutions.
The firm heads to market by offering FX and commodities on an OTC basis as well as listed derivatives.
Ms Brassington explained to FinanceFeeds “We’re entering a niche market with something we believe is better because its client centric. Everyone wants betters returns which is of course at the centre of our thinking, but they also want a personalised service and absolute transparency which we will provide. We want to do everything the right way.”
Carter Bond Capital has not happened over night, while Ms Brassington has backers, she’s not brought millions to the table and has brought the firm to fruition with relative frugality in orer to pull the team together and recruit partners and traders.
It is of great interest to see new firms establishing in Australia, especially those offering portfolio services via multi-asset electronic trading solutions.
