The Finance Ministry has indicated that the payment was made a week after the return of another tranche of the loan amounting to 298 million EUR. Greece owes another 896 million EUR to IMF by the end of the month to be paid on 16th and 20th March in the repayment of the loans to international creditors (EU, ECB, IMF) totaling 240 billion EUR granted to the country until 2010.

Meanwhile the Greek capacity for financing is limited, given that it can not make medium and long-term loans in the financial markets and the allocation of tranche of international loans amounting to 7.2 billion EUR is linked to the implementation of reforms Government of Alexis Tsipras. Moreover, the public revenues recorded an 11% decline in comparison with the projections of lost profits in the amount of 963 million EUR in February, according to data from the Ministry of Finance, published today.

Government spokesman Gabriel Sakelaridis confirmed that the country will be able to meet its obligations.

“The job of government is to find the money every time you need to make payment to the creditor, to pay salaries, pensions and expenses are ensuring the functioning of the state. There will be money each time you will have to meet similar needs”, the spokesman said.
