Winsome Ng shares an extensive J.P. Morgan background with the new HKEX CEO Nicolas Aguzin.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) has appointed Winsome Ng as Managing Director and Group Head of Internal Audit, reporting directly to both CEO Nicolas Aguzin and Stephen Yiu, Chairman of HKEX’s Audit Committee.

Ms. Ng will be responsible for HKEX Group’s Internal Audit function, as well as providing independent assurance to the Board on the group’s risk management, governance and internal control processes.

Effective in early September, Ms. Ng joins HKEX from Credit Suisse, where she was Managing Director and Chief Auditor, Asia Pacific for the past five years.

At Credit Suisse, she was responsible for risk assessments and audit coverage of the bank’s Asia-Pacific businesses across 10 markets.

Her veteran experience also counts with 19 years at J.P. Morgan, where she was most recently Managing Director and Regional Audit Head, Asia Pacific – Corporate and Investment Bank.

Nicolas Aguzin, Chief Executive Officer at HKEX, said: “I am very pleased to be welcoming Winsome to HKEX. She brings solid experience and technical knowledge of the financial services sector and capital markets to our business, and I look forward to working with her as we continue to strengthen and advance Hong Kong’s role as a leading international financial center.”

HKEX CEO Aguzin is also an executive with a firm J.P. Morgan background as he led the investment bank’s growth in China as the region’s chief executive officer for nine years just before joining HKEX earlier this year.

Prior to that, he held a number of roles during his 30 years with the firm, including Head of Investment Banking, Asia Pacific from 2015 to 2019, and as CEO of JP Morgan Latin America from 2005 to 2012.

In April, HKEX made another high-profile appointment with the announcement of Lisa O’Connor as Managing Director, Head of Post Trade Change, where she will be working across HKEX’s clearing and settlement system initiatives to expand the firm’s post-trade services offering and improve efficiencies.

Ms. O’Connor joined HKEX from SWIFT, where she held a number of senior roles throughout nine years at the company, most recently as Head of Capital Markets Strategy, based in Hong Kong.

With nearly 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, she has also worked at Standard Chartered Bank as Head of HK Securities Services.
