“Following the launch of our NYSE U.S. 3000 family of equity indices, providing coverage for Europe and the U.K. is a critical step in our goal of providing a premier global equity index offering.”

Intercontinental Exchange, a global leader in exchanges, clearing houses, and data services, has announced the introduction of around 600 European equity indices, spanning 16 European nations, including the U.K. This marks the first phase in the launch of the NYSE Global Equity Market Indices and aims to offer investors a transparent and versatile way to benchmark global listed securities.

Administered by ICE Data Indices, LLC, the indices are accessible via ICE’s Custom Index Tool, a platform that allows investors to prototype and back-test various strategies for multiple applications. These range from research and benchmark construction to developing financial products such as Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs).

The newly launched suite is comprised of three main categories:

Listed Country Indices: These include qualifying securities listed on recognized exchanges in the respective countries. These serve as the starting universes for the creation of additional sector-specific, thematic, ESG, and factor indices.

Country Indices: These further refine the securities’ universe based on their ICE country of risk, offering specific single-country index proxies.

Selected Investible Indices: Including the NYSE U.K. 100, 250, and 350 Indices, and the NYSE Europe 600 Index. These are created based on customized rules that cater to users needing specific local or regional benchmarks.

Moreover, both Listed Country and Country indices are divided into segments by size, including Large, Mid, Small, Micro, Total Market, and All Cap.

“Providing coverage for Europe and the U.K. is a critical step”

“Following the launch of our NYSE U.S. 3000 family of equity indices, providing coverage for Europe and the U.K. is a critical step in our goal of providing a premier global equity index offering,” stated Varun Pawar, Vice President and Head of ICE Data Indices.

The new indices are part of ICE’s robust suite of over 6,000 global equity, fixed income, commodity, and foreign exchange indices. “These indices provide a new set of benchmarking options for customers investing in European markets,” said Amanda Hindlian, President of Fixed Income and Data Services at ICE.

The roll-out will include various cap categories for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
