Arman Tahmassebi appointed COO at ETX Capital

A renowned figure among Britain’s spread betting and CFD companies, Arman Tahmassebi left his position at London Capital Group Holdings plc (LON:LCG) as Chief Operating Officer in January after just one year, however today represents the next stage in his executive career as he joins ETX Capital as Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Tahmassebi spent a remarkable 15 years at IG Group, his first senior executive position at the company being Managing Director for Europe and South Africa in 2010, before being promoted to Global Head of Operations in April 2012. In January 2015, he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

Mr. Tahmassebi’s tenure at IG Group was during the somewhat halcyon days of the company, in a senior executive position working alongside Tim Howkins, during almost the entirety of Mr. Howkins’ career before he retired last year. IG Group was very well managed indeed with Mssrs Howkins and Tahmassebi at the helm, achievements which both can reflect on with more than a degree of satifaction.

Joining IG Group in April 2000 as a senior dealer, Mr. Tahmassebi quickly moved on to becom Global Head of FX Trading in October 2002, a position that he held for 4 years before moving to Chicago to become President and CEO of IG Markets North America in 2006 where, among other aspects of overseeing the entire transatlantic operations, he worked closely with Yossi Beinart, President of NADEX, who has since moved on to become CEO of Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.

A return to Britain materialized in January 2008, when Mr. Tahmassebi became Head of IT Development at IG Group, before being elevated to senior executive level at the company in 2010.

During his tenure at IG Group, Mr. Tahmassebi was CEO of Extrabet, which was an online sports spread betting company which offered fixed odds sports betting.

Leaving IG Group for London Capital Group was a somewhat controversial move, especially at the time during which London Capital Group was in its initial stages of rebuilding itself under new ownership, and during the year that he was at the company, Mr. Tahmassebi’s peers within the executive team were subject to many replacements and many internal changes.

Educated at The University of Leicester, urbane and sophisticated Mr. Tahmassebi holds a Batchelor of Law (LLB) in Law and Econmics, graduating in 1998, and a further qualification from the University of Law in Legal Practice in Business Commerce which he completed in 1999.
