The Data & Analytics Division is the result of the recent acquisition of Refinitiv for $27 billion.

LSEG has appointed Lea Carty to drive sustainable growth for investment management customers. Based out of the United States, Mr. Carty will report to Andrea Remyn Stone, Chief Product Officer, Data & Analytics.

Mr. Carty’s 25 years of experience within the industry will provide LSEG with added expertise in indexing and portfolio analytics gained in senior roles at Moody’s, Lehman Brothers, and Bloomberg.

At Bloomberg, he spent 10 years as global head of buy-side solutions, where he developed and ran the portfolio analytics and index business, including the acquisition of the Barclays Risk Analytics and Index Services.

Andrea Remyn Stone, Chief Product Officer, Data & Analytics, said: “At a time of industry transformation for our investment customers, Lea brings deep expertise and outstanding leadership experience. I’m excited to welcome him to the team to partner with our customers and build innovative new solutions with our data, analytics, and index capabilities that create sustainable growth.”

Lea Carty, Group Head, Investment Solutions, commented: “LSEG is well-positioned to support institutional investors as they respond to seismic shifts in the industry: the move to passive, the accelerating incorporation of advanced technology, analytics and data into their investment processes, and the growing importance of sustainable finance. I’m excited to join the business and partner with customers to create new open, transparent solutions that help them achieve their risk, return, and sustainability objectives.”

LSEG’s head of Investment Solutions and CEO of FTSE Russell, Waqas Samad, is leaving the firm to pursue other opportunities. Investment Solutions is part of the Data and Analytics Division, led by Andrea Remyn Stone.

The Group has chosen Arne Staal, Head of Product and Research at FTSE Russell, to replace Samad and lead the FTSE Russell business as Group Head, Indices & Benchmarks, reporting to Lea Carty.

The Data & Analytics Division is the result of the recent acquisition of Refinitiv for $27 billion. The deal significantly accelerated LSEG’s existing strategy to be a leading global financial markets infrastructure provider and to markedly expand its data and analytics offering to create a global multi-asset class capital markets business.

David Craig, founding CEO of Refinitiv leads the Data & Analytics division of LSEG. Craig helped establish Refinitiv out of the Financial and Risk division of Thomson Reuters in 2018.
