Clients of IG had a nightmarish couple of hours, as they could not get in touch with the brokerage and could not get their positions closed.

The past several hours have turned into a nightmare for clients of online trading company IG Group, as all of the platforms have been affected by what the brokerage dubbed “major outage”. Finally, more than two hours after the first issues regarding the closing of positions were reported, the company said a fix was implemented.

Traders vented off their anger on social networks, as they could not get in touch with the brokerage and get their positions closed. The outage affected all services, including charts, API and withdrawals. At present, the status of all services has been changed to “operational”.

One of the users of the IG Community that was lucky enough to get a reply from the brokerage during the outage posted the following reply from IG’s support team:

“We sincerely wish to apologies for the inconvenience caused. Please note that at the moment, we are experiencing technical issues on our IG Platforms. Our IT-Team is investigating the error and will post the updates in the Link here : https://status.ig.com/

Once the Platforms start working as required, we will investigate the impact of the error on your IG accounts and assist you accordingly.

Once again we sincerely apologies for the disruption in our services and appreciate your understanding and patience.

We look forward to serving you soon”.

The company has not yet provided any explanation for the cause of the outage.
