The German Chancellor Angela Merkel step up her support for the trans-Atlantic trade agreement between USA and European Union. This happened a day after she said that Europe should not be afraid of the price which will have to pay for the sanctions against Russia. In a speech yesterday in Hanover Angela Merkel said that it is needed new momentum in free trade negotiations between the European Union and USA.
As the leader of the European largest economy and the largest trading partner of Russia in the European Union, the opinion of the measures is key to achieving the trans-Atlantic trade agreement. It is also good possibility of a unified European response to the Russian annexation of the Crimea.
In spire of the fact that the German Chancellor stressed that the strong are not above the law, Germany is still bound by business agreements with Russia, which is the third largest trading partner after USA and China. Russia provides about 30% from the natural gas required by the German economy and business.
