Mizuho Americas teams up with Quantifi to support its equity derivatives business

Mizuho Americas, an asset manager and provider of corporate and investment banking services, has selected Quantifi to enhance its existing risk infrastructure with sophisticated analytics.

Mizuho not off the hook

Quantifi is a provider of risk, analytics and trading solutions. For investment managers, the vendor offers cross-asset trading, front-to-back operations, position management, enterprise risk management and regulatory reporting, all on an integrated platform.

Explaining the rationale behind this collaboration, Mizuho Americas said it was looking for an independent pricing and structuring solution to supplement risk measurement on its derivative positions and price structured equity notes.

“Mizuho Americas markets its US equity derivatives capabilities to US corporates, providing solutions including accelerated share repurchases, collars, convertible call spreads, and equity forwards. Quantifi was selected by Mizuho Americas for its responsive service and extensive model library to help supplement its proprietary, in-house technology,” it further explains.

As Mizuho Americas’ clients search for value-added alpha, they face pressure from market volatility, shifts in investor behavior and intense competition. Quantifi’s equity analytics and flexible technology help resolve these challenges as it saves on development time, resources and allows its clients to focus on their core business.

Founded in 2002, Quantifi is said to count 180 corporate clients across 40 countries including 5 global banks, 2 of the 3 largest asset managers, hedge funds, pension funds, insurers, brokers, clearing members, corporates and other financial institutions. The company’s suite of integrated pre and post-trade solutions allow market participants to better value, trade and risk manage their exposures and respond to changing market conditions.

“We are delighted to be providing Mizuho Americas, one of the premier investment banks, with technology and support for its equity derivatives business. We look forward to partnering with Mizuho Americas to help it expand its equity offering,” said Rohan Douglas, CEO of Quantifi.

In 2016, Japanese parent firm, Mizuho Financial Group, launched Mizuho Americas, which has since grown as a North American banking holding entity. The group comprises a host of legal entities, aggregating segments in the corporate and investment banking, financing, securities, treasury services, asset management, and research services spaces for clients in North America.
