MultiCharts adds OANDA V20 REST API support

Maria Nikolova

The functionality has been in demand by MultiCharts’ users since OANDA launched the V20 engine in October last year to mark its 20th corporate anniversary.

The creators of MultiCharts have just announced the rollout of the latest (beta) version of the trading platform – MultiCharts 11.0 Beta 1.

The list of improvements introduced in this version of the platform include the addition of OANDA’s V20 REST API support. This has been in demand by users of the platform since OANDA launched the v20 trading engine in October last year to mark its 20th corporate anniversary. The OANDA v20 REST API provides programmatic access to OANDA’s next generation v20 trading engine. Anyone with a V20 trading account may use this API.

The Trading Interface is selected in OANDA data feed settings in QuoteManager, MultiCharts’ tool for database management. It is global and affects the data feed and all existing OANDA broker profiles. The changes will be applied after all platform processes are restarted.

MultiCharts and OANDA have a long history of co-operation. This dates back to October 2014 when MultiCharts announced the start of the testing of OANDA broker and data feed plug-in. OANDA is now one of MultiCharts’ supported brokers.

One of the advantages of MultiCharts is that it allows its users to easily switch between various brokers or select more than one broker to use. A trader can also chose one or multiple data feeds which to use. This is appreciated by software developers willing to test their indicators or automated trading strategies using data feeds from several brokers.

The platform is know for its technical analysis and backtesting capabilities. The latest version of MultiCharts also introduces improvements to the Walk Forward Optimization (WFO) report making it more informative and customizable. The backup of platform data is made easier.

An interesting novelty is the new study licensing management system. Selected add-on providers may now register as developers with MultiCharts to manage licensing of the studies they sell to the users.
