Nordea names Mark Kandborg its acting Chief Financial Officer

Mark Kandborg, Group Treasurer, Head of Treasury & Asset and Liability Management, will serve as acting Group CFO until Ian Smith joins Nordea.

Nordea Bank Abp today announces the appointment of Mark Kandborg as its acting Chief Financial Officer.

As announced in September 2019, Nordea’s current Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Head of Group Finance and Treasury Christopher Rees would be leaving Nordea to relocate to the UK with his family. Christopher Rees will have his last working day on April 30, 2020.

Nordea has appointed, as announced in January 2020, Ian Smith, current Chief Financial Officer of Virgin Money UK PLC, to be the future Group CFO and Head of Group Finance at Nordea.

Ian Smith will be joining at a date to be announced later. Mark Kandborg, Group Treasurer, Head of Treasury & Asset and Liability Management, will serve as acting Group CFO until Ian Smith joins Nordea.

Ian Smith has an extensive background in the financial services sector in the UK and has held senior positions as Banking audit partner and later as Financial Services M&A leader at Deloitte. He has also served as Director of Group Finance at Lloyds Banking Group plc and at Halifax Bank of Scotland plc.

Ian Smith has a degree in Economics from the University of Aberdeen.
