OKX partners with metaverse developer Everdome after sponsorship deals with Manchester City, the McLaren F1 Racing Team and Formula 1 pilot Daniel Ricciardo.

OKX has announced the acquisition of substantial land holding in metaverse Everdome, signalling its first foray into the blockchain-powered alternative universe as the crypto exchange becomes one of Everdome’s premier partners.

As part of the strategic partnership, OKX will work with the Everdome team to bring their partners and others into the metaverse to design unique cultural programming and innovative experiences, namely for educational purposes in regard to crypto and the overall web3 ecosystem.

OKX’s Haider Rafique at the helm of marketing stategy

The tier-1 crypto exchange with $1.5B average daily trading volume has set its sights on expanding its status in Asia and elsewhere. OKX Global CMO Haider Rafique has been guiding the digital asset specialist’s new branding strategy that also includes recent partnerships with Manchester City Football Club, the McLaren F1 Racing Team and Formula 1 pilot Daniel Ricciardo.

Haider Rafique, Chief Marketing Officer at OKX said: “OKX is excited to extend Everdome as a key partner, and is thrilled to be one of the first and largest landowners in the Everdome metaverse. Everdome will enable OKX to create immersive experiences within their metaverse, ones that are yet to be seen in such a partnership. We ultimately want to show the world what living on Mars could look like and ways we would transact and trade on the red planet.”

Rob Gryn, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Everdome and Metahero, commented: “OKX is an exciting and exceptional new partner for Everdome, who we’re thrilled to have on board. The collaboration between Everdome and OKX will enable us to elevate the metaverse and web3 journey even further, delivering deeply immersive experiences that leverage photorealistic graphics to blur the boundaries between the connected and real worlds.”

OKX offers cryptocurrency exchange and self-custody services that are used by more than 20 million users in over 180 international markets. The firm also boasts MetaX, a DeFi portal into the world of Web 3.0, metaverse gaming, NFTs and the decentralized economy.

Manchester City sponsorship to boost UK operation

In March 2022, OKX was named by City as the “Club’s Official Cryptocurrency Exchange Partner” as part of a commercial expansion by the Premier League champions. The deal marked OKX’s first venture into the world of sport and entertainment.

As part of its sponsorship package, the crypto venue will gain visibility through a range of marketing channels. This will span Manchester City men and women teams, in addition to the club’s esports operations. On top of that, OKX will access matchday media backdrops, tickets, digital rights and players’ activities.

The new deal comes a few months after Manchester City suspended their partnership with a mysterious cryptocurrency startup called 3Key Technologies. In the wake of media reports, the English football club halted the sponsorship agreement, which was announced but not activated in respect of any specific products or services, due to 3Key’s lack of online presence.
