Ripple lawsuit conference call today: SEC may want to depose 2,000 XRP Holders, says John Deaton

Rick Steves

“They might argue they need to delay the case in order to [depose] the 2K #XRPHolders who signed affidavits. The SEC is desperate for the Judge to not learn the truth. Delay is the only tactic it has. It will be meant to divide XRPHolders. Don’t worry, I’ve anticipated it.”

John Deaton, the lead attorney representing XRP Holders in the SEC v. Ripple case, has shared his prediction on how today’s conference call will go, namely the SEC pushing its delay strategy to cause fear and divide among his clients.

The conference call is scheduled for today, at 3 p.m. New York time (EST). Members of the public will be free to attend by dialling: USA: (877) 226-8215; International: (409) 207-6982. The access code is 4713826 # (SN).

XRP Holders attorney says he’s prepared against SEC’s delay tactics

Attorney John Deaton said the Securities and Exchange Commission “knows the one [thing] XRPHolders fear most is delay. The SEC will try and cause fear and divide among XRPHolders by arguing that if the Judge allows amici to file a brief, the SEC needs more time to respond (even though they don’t).”

Indeed, time is on the side of the plaintiff as both Ripple Labs and ‘amici’ XRP Holders have much to lose for each passing day, both business and assets.

The SEC’s back and forths on the matter have caused irritation among those awaiting an end to the XRP lawsuit for a number of reasons, such as regulatory clarity and the re-listing of XRP, one of the most traded digital assets in the world.

John Deaton believes the plaintiff will only try to double down on the delay tactics and will be showing its hand on today’s conference call. The XRP Holders attorney says he is ready for the showdown.

“The SEC might claim I’m trying to violate the Court’s order by presenting evidence (even though all I did was provide the parties w/ affidavits – NOT THE COURT). The SEC may even argue that if Ripple attempts to use the affidavits they must be allowed to reopen discovery.
