Rostro Financials hires institutional sales veteran Chris Andrews

As part of a strategy to expand its sales division in London, Rostro Financials Group, a fintech group focused on capital markets and digital assets, has added Chris Andrews to its institutional sales operations.

Chris brings his wealth of knowledge of the forex and financial markets to the firm. During his career, he has worked across both banks and brokers.

Andrews, who will be based in London, joins the company with more than three decades worth of experience in futures, forex, equity and CFD sales trading and account management. His most recent position was director of institutional business development at ThinkMarkets.

Andrews also served within the institutional sales and account management at GKFX, a CFD trading, spread betting and foreign exchange broker. In this role, Andrews was responsible for the sales trading and account management side of the business. During his time at the company, he serviced both the broker’s retail and institutional clients.

Before joining GKFX, Andrews held senior roles at a myriad of financial institutions such as Saxo Capital Markets UK, where he worked in derivatives sales trading, MF Global, Fyshe Global and Cantor Index.

The new hire plays into a long-term vision for Rostro, which operates multi-regulated brokerage houses that provide execution, and clearing of both listed securities as well as OTC derivatives. In addition, the group offers banking, alternative finance, and digital asset storage with both on and off ramp solutions.

Rostro is led by Michael Ayres, the former chief operating officer at Equiti Capital, formerly known as Divisa Capital. Prior to Equiti, Ayres, who has over 13 years of experience in the forex industry, was the operations director at GKFX.

Rostro Financials had recently acquired Belize-based FX and CFDs brokerage Scope Markets. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, but Rostro bought the retail broker in an all-cash deal.

Scope Markets, which is domiciled in Belize and regulated by the International Financial Services Commission (IFSC), is controlled by UAE-based entrepreneur Serkan Ismailoglu. The Middle East-focused broker also operates regulated entities in Africa, Cyprus and Mauritius.

Scope Markets has recently announced a multi-year extension to its sleeve partnership with iconic east London football club, West Ham United. The extended accord helps expand Scope Markets’ product scope in the UK and globally as the football club’s official online trading partner.

FIA urges CFTC to regulate use cases rather than AI itself

“We urge the CFTC to refrain from crafting new regulations that generally regulate AI because this approach presents certain well-known pitfalls. By approaching the issue from the perspective of AI as a technology, rather than the use case for the technology, corresponding regulations would likely necessitate a definition of AI. We anticipate that any attempt to properly define AI would be very challenging and require considerable resources.”
