The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Control (Rosselyhoznadzor) banned the import of all kinds of meat from Moldova. This must take effect from today – 27th October 2014. After inspections in the country Russian health authorities have discovered a number of violations, including the sale of meat of unknown origin. The veterinarians have found further problems with the safety of meat products purchased by wholesalers from “rural markets”. The inspection showed more discrepancy between production facilities in Russia and exported quantities of meat products to a number of Moldovan enterprises.
On 18th July 2014 the Rosselyhoznadzor already introduced restrictions on imports of fresh fruit from Moldova. The reason omissions and failures of the requirements to protect consumers from producers. The Russian Ministry of Economic Development has prepared a project for the cancellation of zero tariffs for a number of Moldovan goods, including wine, fruit and vegetables and cereals.
