Saxo Markets HK hires Sean Ma to lead institutional business in Greater China

The Hong Kong operation of Saxo Markets has appointed Sean Ma as Head of Saxo Institutional, which covers both wholesale clients – banks, brokers, wealth managers, and fintech firms – and direct B2B client businesses.

The online trading specialist announced the appointment as the broker aims to further expand the institutional offering across the Greater China region.

Wholesale clients have been leveraging Saxo’s digital value chain since 2001, which allows them to provide a comprehensive set of investment products and services via digital platforms under a Business-as-a-Service (BaaS) model.

Saxo’s B2B2C offering also focuses on user experience, allowing partners to use a combination of various customizable user interfaces available and integrate with Saxo’s infrastructure through a holistic set of APIs which the platforms are themselves built on top of.

Saxo Institutional also offers B2B services, comprising of prime brokerage and execution services to hedge funds, family offices, prop traders, and corporate hedgers.

The trading offering ranges from cash products such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, to derivatives such as futures and options (listed and OTC) in a single account.

Sean Ma to drive Saxo growth across the Greater China region

Sean Ma will report to Ivan Chang, Regional Head of Saxo Institutional, APAC, and to Richard Douglas, CEO of Hong Kong.

Based in Hong Kong, Sean Ma will be responsible for leading the Institutional team, exploring business opportunities and driving growth in the region.

Sean Ma has over a decade of experience in the securities and futures industry, including several senior management role. He was also the founding member of two Hong Kong licensed firms, leading the team to fully operational and break even within one year.
