Sam Gold, the Head of Intermediary Business Development London, and Doug Abbott, Country Head, South Africa, will take on the roles.

Schroders, a major asset manager, today announces the appointment of new Co-Heads to lead its UK Intermediary business.

Sam Gold, the Head of Intermediary Business Development London, and Doug Abbott, Country Head, South Africa, will take on the roles. They have substantial experience of the UK intermediary market, as well as a strong track record in servicing a broad range of clients in competitive markets.

Phil Middleton, who has previously led the UK Intermediary business, is relocating to the US as Head of Institutional Distribution, North America, as Schroders enhances its focus on this strategically important region.

These changes will take place at the end of the first quarter of 2020 following a smooth transition of responsibilities.

James Rainbow, Head of UK Distribution and Latin America, Schroders, commented:

“Sam and Doug are well-placed to lead the continued development of Schroders’ intermediary business in the UK, building on the excellent work Phil has already achieved. These appointments demonstrate the depth of experience that we have and our commitment to promoting internally where possible.”

About a month ago, Schroders announced that former CEO of online trading major IG Group Peter Hetherington will join as Chief Executive of Schroders Personal Wealth.

Back in October, Schroders also confirmed the recent completion of Schroders’ investment of a 49.9% stake in Schroders Personal Wealth. Schroders now owns 49.9% of Schroders Personal Wealth with the remaining 50.1% owned by Lloyds Banking Group.
