Solana and Brave partner to integrate it into Brave Browser

Solana and Brave today announced a partnership by which Solana would be integrated into the browser and be made available to over 42 million users of the browser and would henceforth be used as the default blockchain network for cross-chain and dApps as well.

solana

This was announced yesterday at the Solana Breakpoint conference in Lisbon by Brendon Eich, CEO and founder of Brave and BAT as well as Anatoly Yakovenko, CEO and founder of Solana Labs. The companies will work together to bring in wallet features for the Solana network in both the desktop and mobile browsers and also enable the DEX aggregator for Solana swaps, NFT support as well as creating wallets while Solana will encourage the integration and usage of BAT within the Solana network by its developers to ensure mutual growth. For Brave, this is in addition to Ethereum support which it also has on its browser and it has made it clear that the ETH network support would continue to exist.

“With more and more users and creators requiring tools for fast and affordable access to the decentralized Web, this integration will seamlessly pave the way for the next billion crypto users to harness applications and tokens,” said Brendan Eich, CEO, and co-founder of Brave.

Solana provides a good alternative to Ethereum which has been suffering from high gas fees and a congested network over the last few months which has also helped the growth of other networks like the Layer 2 solution Polygon. Solana provides another choice for developers to build their applications on it due to the high transaction speeds and low costs that it offers at this point. This has helped the ecosystem to grow very strongly over the last few months with hundreds of different applications getting built on it at a furious pace.

It is expected that this partnership would help to bring Solana to many mainstream crypto users and would improve the branding and awareness of the network. It would also place it in direct competition with Ethereum which has already been integrated into the browser. It remains to be seen how the users would welcome it and what sort of dApps and features would be built using BAT, Solana, and Brave in the coming months.
