S&P Capital IQ Pro integrates Nikkei’s news: “A one-stop-shop for APAC insights”

S&P Global Market Intelligence and Nikkei have teamed up to integrate Nikkei’s news offering with the S&P Capital IQ Pro platform.

This partnership, announced on January 22, 2024, follows a previous announcement in 2022. The collaboration aims to provide S&P Capital IQ Pro users with extensive insights into financial markets, economies, regulations, company developments, and emerging business trends in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.

A one-stop-shop for APAC insights and analytics

Marc Barrachin, Head of Company Intelligence and Analytics at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said: “By joining forces with Nikkei, we are elevating the way our users navigate the complexities of rapidly changing business landscapes around the world. The editorial prominence of Nikkei, combined with the data and tools of the S&P Capital IQ Pro platform, creates a one-stop-shop for APAC insights and analytics, enriching our users’ understanding of the APAC business environment and helping them make more informed decisions.”

Nikkei News, which will be accessible through feed delivery, offers machine-readable content suitable for Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications, including metadata tagging for enhanced usability and compatibility with NLP tools. This service is part of the core CIQ Pro subscription, accessible immediately to all clients.

The service provides:

  • Breaking news coverage from The Nikkei and Nikkei Asia, produced by a team of over 1,500 journalists.
  • An archive of more than 400,000 Nikkei articles covering global markets and Asia-Pacific business activities.
  • Customizable dashboards for monitoring streaming news related to specific companies and industries.
  • Enhanced company profiles with updates from The Nikkei and Nikkei Asia.
  • Native English articles from Nikkei Asia and machine-translated content for Japanese-language articles from The Nikkei.

S&P Global acquired ChartIQ in 2023

Launched on September 7, 2021, S&P Capital IQ Pro is a comprehensive desktop solution offering a wide range of datasets and content, powered by innovative tools and functionality. It represents a significant enhancement from the original S&P Capital IQ platform, providing visibility into both public and private companies and markets.

The platform features data coverage of 62,000 public and 18 million private companies, ESG content, breaking news from Dow Jones Newswires, and a real-time market monitoring dashboard, among other capabilities.

On January 5, 2023, S&P Global announced the acquisition of ChartIQ, a premier charting provider, as part of its S&P Global Market Intelligence division. This acquisition has bolstered the data visualization and advanced charting capabilities of the S&P Capital IQ Pro platform, improving its analytical capabilities and providing clients with leading visualization tools for their data analysis needs.
