Xenodata Lab launches AI-driven “xenoBrain” to make corporate performance forecasts

Maria Nikolova

The forecasts will be based on analysis of news published over the past 10 years.

Xenodata Lab, a Tokyo-based firm that leverages the power of artificial intelligence to provide finance data analytics products to financial services companies, today announces the release of “xenoBrain” – a service for predicting corporate performance based on news analysis.

xenoBrain applies natural language processing technology t global news, financial news, securities reports etc, and produces corporate performance forecasts. This includes not only profit/loss predictions, but also risk estimates. The forecasts may be used for gauging the overall business climate of the sector in which a given company is active.

Furthermore, the service offers email alerts for news that may have an impact on a given company. These signals include more than the announcement about a certain company but announcements about other companies or sectors that may affect a given company.

For the time being, the service is available to selected clients of Xenodata only.

In November last year, Xenodata announced that it had secured JPY 250 million in funding from Japanese financial majors, such as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc (TYO:8306), SMBC, Mizuho, and Okasan Securities.

The company said the funding would l be used to develop further the offering of Xenodata Lab, including xenoFlash, and to take the collaboration with the funding partners to the next level.

In relation to Kabu.com Securities, an online trading subsidiary of MUFG, the partnership is set to be used to further develop “xenoFlash for kabu.com”, a service that automatically analyzes the financial results of listed companies, based on a natural language processing mechanism. Based on this analysis, an infographic with the highlights is delivered. The “flash” part of the service name means that the analysis is made at high speed – it should take no more than a minute.
