The US energy company ContourGlobal announced that, together with affiliates of the Austrian Raiffeisen Banking Group purchased the existing plants producing electricity from renewable energy sources in Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The transaction value is not specified, but the US company already owns eight wind farms in Austria with a total capacity of 161 megawatts, and solar power plants in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, with a capacity of 40 MW. Currently holds ContourGlobal RES plants with a capacity of 1.4 GW located in South America, Europe and Africa, explained from the company. ContourGlobal attended the Bulgarian energy market – the company owns the Maritsa East 3. The company bought the plant from the Italian Enel in June 2011 for an amount of 230 million EUR.
In recent months, the plant was cited as one reason for the imbalance in the energy system. The company has signed long-term contracts for the purchase of energy produced at preferential conditions.
