The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) has announced the appointment of Jane Franks as its Chief People Officer (CPO), effective from Monday, November 13. This strategic move underscores ASX’s commitment to its people and culture, aligning with the organization’s vision and five-year strategy.

In her new role, Ms. Franks will take the helm of the People and Culture function, steering the transformation of ASX’s culture, enhancing capabilities, and devising people strategies that will propel the organization into the future.

Her responsibilities will span performance management, compensation and benefit structures, HR policies and systems, leadership and talent programs, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.

“Reshaping culture and people practices”

Helen Lofthouse, CEO and Managing Director of ASX, said: “Jane brings to ASX considerable experience in transforming and reshaping culture and people practices. Her appointment will support us in building the capability and culture we need to successfully deliver our new strategy, meet customer and regulator expectations, and support and develop our people.”

Ms. Lofthouse further emphasized Ms. Franks’ qualifications, highlighting her performance-oriented approach and collaborative leadership style. These attributes, combined with Ms. Franks’ track record of building and leading high-performing teams, will play a pivotal role in elevating ASX’s organizational effectiveness, governance, and oversight.

Ms. Franks comes to ASX with a wealth of experience, having previously served as the Chief People Officer at Blackmores, an ASX-listed healthcare company, since 2018. During her tenure at Blackmores, she spearheaded a program aimed at transforming capability and culture. This initiative resulted in the establishment of new talent, reward, and leadership frameworks, improved engagement and leadership indices, and accelerated diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging practices across 13 markets.

Before her time at Blackmores, Ms. Franks held various leadership roles in human resources within the financial services sector, including serving as HR Director (ANZ) for Diageo. She also held senior positions with Westpac Group, including General Manager, HR for Westpac Group and BT Financial Group, Chief of Staff for Westpac’s Retail and Business Bank, and Group Head of Employee Advocacy for Westpac.

Ms. Franks’ extensive experience in driving cultural and organizational transformation, combined with her commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment, makes her a valuable addition to ASX’s leadership team. Her appointment signals ASX’s dedication to nurturing a workforce that aligns with the organization’s strategic goals and values.
