The 50-day Change.org petition will culminate in a formal proposal to the Unicode Consortium within their 2024 submission period.

A coalition of over 35 crypto firms led by Nexo has been petitioning for a Bitcoin emoji for 40 days now. Today, Joe Nakamoto, a crypto influencer based in Portugal, published a video featuring several big names within the crypto ecosystem to further promote the campaign.

The video features Peter McCormackAubrey StrobelPaolo ArdoinoJack MallersLina SeicheDylan LeClairAmerican HODLPete RizzoIsabellaNicoMatt OdellGirl Gone Crypto, and Uncle Rockstar Developer.

These crypto influencers, who together boast an audience of over 2.3 million, have endorsed the Bitcoin Deserves an Emoji initiative. These endorsements underscore the widespread recognition of Bitcoin’s cultural and technological impact. The petition has already obtained more than 13,000 signatures. The campaign’s goal is to reach 50,000 signatures.

Emojis, which began as simple pictographs in Japan during the 1990s, have evolved into fundamental aspects of digital communication, transcending language barriers and reflecting societal values. The proposed Bitcoin emoji aims to symbolize the cryptocurrency’s indispensable role in modern digital and financial ecosystems, emphasizing principles of decentralization, transparency, and security.

This campaign’s rapid gain in momentum is a testament to the crypto community’s solidarity, surpassing previous emoji advocacy efforts by major brands like Taco Bell and Tinder, which took years to achieve their goals.

The 50-day Change.org petition will culminate in a formal proposal to the Unicode Consortium within their 2024 submission period.

Nexo, the leading digital asset services provider that has processed over $130 billion for more than 7 million users across over 200 jurisdictions since its launch, has been leading the “Bitcoin Deserves an Emoji” campaign, which is a collaborative effort by over 35 organizations in the cryptocurrency space, that also include: Brink, Bitget, Chainalysis, Kraken, Polygon, Brave, BTC Inc, OKX, Hacken, CryptoQuant, Nansen, Unstoppable Domains, Liquity, Busha, Zulu, Bware Labs, Texture Capital, Meta4 Capital, Sift, MarketAcross, Bitcompare, Bithomp, Milk Road, Crypto Oasis, Cadenza, FinanceFeeds, DA Capital, Relayz, xPortal, Zima Bank, Vizsla Inu, WW Ventures, NGC Ventures, Fountain, Fact Protocol, Relai, and more.
