Derivitec expands risk management business into the US

Rick Steves

“We are delighted, finally, to have an established presence in North America. The US is well known for its rich wealth of hedge funds and asset managers, with a level of talent and innovation second to none.”

Derivitec has made its way to the United States, opening an office in New York as the US headquarters. The geographical expansion comes as a direct response to the growing demand from its US client base, particularly among prominent hedge funds and family offices in New York and Chicago.

The establishment of a New York office is a clear indicator of Derivitec’s dedication to providing top-tier service to its clients. Since its inception in 2011, Derivitec has been at the forefront of developing cloud-based risk analytics services.

The platform, which officially launched at the end of 2014 after three years of development, initially catered to clients in London before expanding to the Asia-Pacific region, with offices opening in Hong Kong and later Singapore.

Despite the global challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Derivitec continued to grow, securing its first US client in 2020. This expansion was significantly accelerated in 2022, following the easing of travel restrictions, allowing Derivitec to offer a comprehensive risk platform to some of the most significant hedge funds and family offices in the US.

Derivitec is hiring quants in New York

To support its ongoing expansion and commitment to the US market, Derivitec is actively hiring for quantitative analyst positions in New York. This expansion coincides with Derivitec’s recognition in the industry, as it was nominated for the Best Risk Management Software Provider at the Hedgeweek European Awards for the second consecutive year.

George Kaye, CEO and Founder of Derivitec, comments: “We are delighted, finally, to have an established presence in North America. The US is well known for its rich wealth of hedge funds and asset managers, with a level of talent and innovation second to none. It is a privilege to be able to serve our clients in this market, and we look forward to an exciting journey ahead throughout the region.”

Financial risk reporting for businesses

Founded in 2011, Derivitec specializes in cloud-based portfolio risk management solutions designed to provide financial risk reporting for businesses. Their platform is aimed at delivering complete transparency across all stakeholders within an organization, from initial analysis to final attribution. It’s available both as a powerful web application and can be integrated into clients’ own applications, catering to the needs of hedge funds, remittance companies, and platforms seeking comprehensive risk management solutions.

The company’s approach emphasizes ensuring complete consistency across an organization, including front-to-back, pre and post-trade, in real-time and at the end of the day, particularly for hedge funds.

For remittance companies, it offers insights into risks associated with collateral and liquidity providers, helping to predict potential margin payment issues before they occur. Platforms servicing client funds can also benefit from a single application to view the complete risk picture across all companies.
