Interactive Brokers’ mobile app enables traders to view SPX Delta & Theta for their portfolio
The addition to the mobile app is made shortly after the broker enhanced the “Greeks” information display in the Performance Profile of its TWS platform.
Electronic trading major Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:IBKR) has introduced another set of improvements to its mobile trading application – IBKR Mobile, for iOS and Android-based devices, with the enhancements focused on the so-called “Greeks”.
Let’s recall that the Greeks help traders determine how certain factors affect the price of an option. For example, delta is a measure of an option’s sensitivity to changes in the price of the underlying asset. Theta quantifies the risk that time has on options as options are only exercisable for a certain period of time.
In the latest versions of the IBKR Mobile apps for iOS and Android devices, traders are enabled to view SPX Delta and SPX Theta for their portfolios. In the Android app, for example, traders can activate this feature from their Portfolio screen by tapping the menu (three vertical dots in the upper right corner) and checking “Show Delta & Theta.” These values display along the bottom of the dashboard of the Portfolio screen.
This addition is made after in March the Interactive Brokers’ TWS platform started offering more detailed information in the Performance Profile section via an improved “Greeks” information display. The platform offers a new selector in the Scenarios blade of the Performance Profile window that lets traders choose between displaying the “Instrument Greeks” that show the traditional contract Greeks, and the “Position Greeks” calculated using (Greek value x position).
Going back to the mobile apps, let’s note that the app for Android devices now combines the “Outside RTH” (“RTH” stands for “regular trading hours”) feature with the Time-in-force on the order ticket to save space. Traders can use the drop-down selector to choose both “the time in force” and toggle on/off the tag to allow orders to fill outside regular hours when available. When this feature is enabled, a yellow triangle icon appears with the Outside RTH clock icon on the order ticket.
About a month ago, IBKR Mobile for Android gadgets enabled traders to analyze option and spread characteristics, including Return-to-Risk Ratio, Profit Probability, Delta, Max Return, Max Loss and more with the Performance Details section of the Instrument Details (and Orders) screen.
To manage the display of this and other sections and to change the order in which sections appear in the Instrument Details screen, one should tap the “More” icon in the top right corner of the chain, and then tap “Sections.” Checking or unchecking a section results in displaying or hiding it. Grabbing the “move” icon to the right of a section to drag its position up or down leads to changing the section position on the screen.
