Meta Apes game launches on Binance Application Sidechain (BAS)

Free play-to-earn strategy game, Meta Apes has become the first crypto game to launch on BNB’s new Binance Application Sidechain (BAS) architecture.

Derived from the popular Age of Apes mobile game, Meta Apes was built using Ankr’s blockchain gaming Software Development Kit (SDK). The tech stack enables game studios to provide Web3 and crypto capabilities in their respective games.

Through Meta Apes, Ankr is launching the very first instance of what is known as Binance Smart Chain (BSC). The vendor promises to create an amazing Web3 game experience, from NFTs to in-game marketplace, and multi-chain wallet integrations.

Meta Apes launched on BAS, a sidechain within the ecosystem offers increased flexibility and efficiency for developers. They can port data and assets from BNB Chain, reducing strain on the network’s limited transactional resources. These sidechains will also be application-specific, meaning individual sidechains will focus on specific use cases.

Additionally, the game’s ecosystem encompasses reward token, staking platform, and a wide array of NFT sets. The Meta Apes staking platform allows users to wrap their MAPES tokens and stake them alongside their NFTs to earn extra MAPES and participate in a weekly lottery system.

“Meta Apes was born out of this idea of creating a community-oriented game that offers both audiences something valuable – 1) an opportunity for the traditional gamers to earn & truly own their in-game assets and 2) a much more interactive and enjoyable experience to the blockchain gamers who are primarily looking to earn,” said Taylor Shim, Business Lead at Meta Apes.

She added, “Building on an application-focused sidechain helps us avoid a lot of the common issues seen in blockchain gaming like network congestion and giving us a lot more flexibility in terms of game design & tokenomics.”

In many ways, BAS infrastructure enables developers to build large-scale BSC-based applications with increased throughput and significantly reduced transaction fees. This can be used as an internal value system for many apps, offloading the traffic from BSC Mainnet while remaining connected to the BNB Chain.
