With 14 years of experience within London’s prominent FX industry, James Hughes is a market analyst with provenance.
This year, Mr. Hughes has taken the next step in his career and joined British FX and CFD company GKFX in London as Chief Market Analyst.
Mr. Hughes joined GKFX from eToro, where he had been Chief Market Analyst since February 2015, leaving the company just 10 months after joining.
Such a short tenure is not the usual scenario, as Mr. Hughes is well renowned and has remained in his former positions for a number of years before progressing of his own accord.
Although his reasons for leaving eToro are not public information, FinanceFeeds is aware of the changing ethos of the firm having spoken at length with Lance Liu of Ping An Ventures at last year’s FXIC Conference in Shanghai. Ping An provided an investment of $10 million into eToro as part of a large round of funding which included further investment from Russia’s Sperbank.
Prior to joining eToro, Mr. Hughes spent 4 years at Alpari UK as Chief Market Analyst, leaving the company in January 2015 when the company became a casualty of the Swiss National Bank’s removal of the 1.20 peg on the EURCHF pair and went insolvent.
Mr. Hughes spent over 9 years at CMC Markets as Senior Market Analyst, as well as being responsible for dealing in CFDs and supervising the back office operations of the firm. He joined CMC Markets in February 2002, leaving in January 2011 to assume his Chief Market Analyst position at Alpari UK.
GKFX nestles among giants in London, however the company’s might is not to be underestimated, as FinanceFeeds research among regional introducing brokers in highly important tier 2 development towns across China concluded that GKFX is a very popular firm among Chinese introducing brokers.
