Barclays announces senior appointments to its Consumer Retail Group

John Muncey assumes the role of Vice Chairman of CRG in Europe and the Middle East, Barrett Frankel joins as Managing Director in the CRG, whereas Jamshed Kakalia is promoted to Head of Consumer, Europe and Middle East in CRG.

Barclays Investment Bank today announced three senior appointments to its Consumer Retail Group (CRG).

John Muncey joins as Vice Chairman of CRG in Europe and the Middle East. He is based in London.

Mr Muncey joins Barclays from Panmure Gordon where he was Head of Investment Banking and brings over 30 years of investment banking experience, including 10 years with JP Morgan where he led its Consumer, Retail, Leisure and Healthcare banking businesses. Mr Muncey will work closely with senior industry and country bankers to expand and deepen further the coverage of clients in the consumer and retail sector.

Mr Muncey joined Barclays on July 1, 2020 and reports to Reid Marsh and Lowell Strug.

Also today, Barclays announced that Barrett Frankel joins as Managing Director in the CRG, based in New York. Barrett Frankel joins Barclays from JP Morgan where he spent 20 years in the Consumer Retail Banking group, most recently as Head of North America Consumer Banking. He brings a wealth of experience with global multinationals, large and small-cap consumer clients across a number of sectors including packaged foor, beverage, business services, household and personal care.

Barrett Frankel joined the firm in May, reporting to Lowell Strug.

Jamshed Kakalia is promoted to Head of Consumer, Europe and Middle East in CRG, relocating from New York to London. He has worked with Lehman Brothers and Barclays for 13 years, including a two-year gap in 2009 when he became Director of Corporate Development at the Campbell Soup Company, before re-joining Barclays CRG in 2011.

Jamshed Kakalia continues to report to Lowell Strug.
