First Derivatives taps Eric Raab as CTO for Kx

Rick Steves

Mr. Raab will be responsible for R&D and the technology roadmap at KX, the Group’s analytics software business, and will report to CEO Seamus Keating.

First Derivatives has appointed Eric Raab as Chief Technology Officer for KX, reporting directly to Seamus Keating, FD’s Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Raab will be responsible for R&D and the technology roadmap at KX, the Group’s analytics software business.

As an accomplished technologist and leader in software, cloud technologies, infrastructure, and SaaS product delivery, Eric brings a wealth of CTO experience gained at high-growth technology companies serving a broad range of industries.

Eric Raab joined First Derivatives from Information Builders Inc., a leading data and analytics software company, where he was CTO. There, he oversaw and managed all technology projects within the firm including software research and development and quality assurance.

Mr. Raab also held the role of CTO at other companies, including Yodle Inc. a digital marketing firm acquired by Web.com. His experience in delivering cloud infrastructure strategies and leading product development will come in handy for KX’s growth strategy.

“It’s an incredibly exciting time to join KX. As the volume and complexity of data continue to grow unabated, it is driving change across all sectors. Organizations are looking for a partner who can help them achieve tangible business value from their vast historic data and what comes in real-time, whether it’s in the cloud or at the edge, and KX is well-positioned to address this need”, said Eric Raab.

Seamus Keating, Chief Executive Officcer of FD, commented: “The real-time data analytics market continues to move towards us particularly in the areas of IoT, streaming data, cloud and edge computing. Eric’s breadth of experience delivering product strategies in this space will be invaluable to our growth ambitions for KX. I am delighted to welcome him to the team.”

In 2020, Alan Coad joined First Derivatives as Chief Revenue Officer for Kx. Mr. Coad is responsible for Kx sales with a focus on accelerating the expansion of the Kx streaming analytics platform into other industries, building on its strength in financial services.

First Derivatives has recently become an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Advanced Consulting Partner. The firm has more than 120 AWS certified consultants whose mission is to train up to 2,000 consultants. AWS consultants help clients safely migrate their systems to the cloud. The certification only documents what is already known within the trading industry: First Derivatives’ expertise in supporting clients with their cloud-based digital transformation initiatives.

In Q4 2020, the firm announced the appointment of former eBay CTO Steve Fisher as a Non-Executive Director of the Group. He will be assisting the expansion of the Kx streaming analytics platform into other industries adjacent to and outside of its capital markets heritage.
