“The next few years are going to be foundational in defining the market infrastructure for digital assets and I see GSR uniquely placed to take advantage of the trading opportunities this presents given the firm’s DNA as a rigorous systematic algorithmic trading firm combined with its long standing relationships with key stakeholders across markets.”

GSR has announced the appointment of Andreas Koukorinis as its new Head of Trading to oversee the firm’s trading platform and strategy.

The global cryptocurrency trading firm and liquidity provider serves a diverse clientele, including token issuers, institutional investors, family offices, and prominent trading venues.

Koukorinis led Credit and FICC eTrading at JP Morgan

Andreas Koukorinis, formerly the Global Head of Credit and FICC ETF eTrading at JP Morgan, brings extensive experience to GSR.

His tenure at JP Morgan involved managing Global Algorithmic Credit Trading and algorithmic trading in ETFs across Fixed Income. He also has experience in portfolio trading in corporates and Emerging Markets.

Before JP Morgan, Koukorinis founded Stratagem Technologies, a sports betting machine learning and analytics company. He has also held positions at Fortress Investment Group and Deutsche Bank.

Andreas Koukorinis to enhance GSR’s trading and execution processes

As part of GSR’s leadership team, Koukorinis will collaborate closely with Jakob Palmstierna, the CEO, Rich Rosenblum, the Co-Founder and President, and John MacDonald, the Chief Technology Officer. His focus will be on enhancing GSR’s trading and execution processes and leveraging the firm’s capabilities in the digital assets spectrum.

Jakob Palmstierna, CEO of GSR, commented: “We are thrilled to welcome Andreas to GSR and know he is the perfect addition to our team. He shares our vision for the company, commitment to continuous improvements, and excitement for the digital asset space. His track record and credentials speak for themselves: a scientist by training and trader by profession, yet what stands out for us is that he is combining this with an entrepreneurial mindset, something we value highly at GSR.”

Andreas Koukorinis, Head of Trading at GSR, said: “As digital assets continue to grow as an asset class and the industry matures, I am delighted to be joining the GSR team and look forward to helping advance the firm’s existing trading strategies while ensuring the best possible outcomes on behalf of our clients. The next few years are going to be foundational in defining the market infrastructure for digital assets and I see GSR uniquely placed to take advantage of the trading opportunities this presents given the firm’s DNA as a rigorous systematic algorithmic trading firm combined with its long standing relationships with key stakeholders across markets.”

GSR, which has recently received In-Principle Approval for a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, has over a decade of experience in the digital asset ecosystem.

The company provides liquidity and investment services, including OTC Trading, Derivatives, and Market Making.

GSR works with various market participants in the digital asset ecosystem, including token issuers, institutional investors, miners, and leading trading venues, and is a high-profile backer of solid digital asset ventures, including EDX Markets and Cboe Digital.
