Mrs Nayler will assume management responsibility for the company’s Legal, Company Secretarial and Internal Audit functions.

Electronic trading major IG Group today announces that Joanna Nayler has taken up her position as Chief Legal and Governance Officer. She assumes management responsibility for the company’s Legal, Company Secretarial and Internal Audit functions.

This newly created position, based in London, sits on the company’s Executive Committee and reports into June Felix, CEO, IG Group. A key focus of the role will be to deliver pragmatic, proportionate and policy-led advice in a fast changing global regulatory environment, as trusted adviser to both the Board and the ExCo.

Mrs Nayler’s appointment forms part of IG Group’s investment for growth to deliver a sustainable and diversified business for its stakeholders, including shareholders and investors. In December, IG appointed Maggie Yeung as CEO, Greater China, and in February hired Simona Stoytchkova, Head of IG’s German operations. All three roles are part of IG’s Global Leadership Team.

Mrs Nayler joins IG from FTSE 250 financial services company, Just Group plc, where she was most recently Group General Counsel after joining in 2013. Prior to Just Group, Mrs Nayler spent almost four years at US insurer ACE European Group (now under the Chubb brand) as Principal Legal Counsel for Consumer Lines in EMEA, having also had a variety of roles at Hiscox Syndicate 33, Clyde & Co LLP, Combined Insurance and Eversheds LLP (now Eversheds Sutherland LLP), where she started her career in 1999.

“I’m delighted to be joining a strong and client-centric global brand like IG Group, especially at such an exciting time in its development, with its focus on new product opportunities, expanding geographical reach and serving new client segments”, said Joanna Nayler.
