IG releases options for Volatility Index

Online trading major IG has released options for the Volatility Index. Traders can find them on IG’s platform under the options tab> Indices.

Options, when buying the call/ put, are a way to get involved in market movement whilst having limited risk.

The dealing hours for these instruments are : 09:00:00 – 21:15:00 GMT Monday-Friday. The contracts are currently offered for two months – November and December. The expiry for monthly options is every third Wednesday of the month, and the last trade will be at 21:15 GMT the day before expiry.

The settled basis the Special Opening Quotation (SOQ) of VIX calculated by the opening prices of the SPX constituents used to calculate the VIX index on settlement date.

Speaking of IG’s offering, let’s recall that, in October this year, IG Europe introduced its turbo24 on-venue product across France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden.

The new turbo24 product is a type of turbo certificate that can be traded 24 hours day. Turbo24s have important client protections, IG says. These products allow traders to buy in at a price that reflects their full exposure from the outset. Turbo24s will be available for indices, currencies and commodities.
