IG stops offering Apple Watch app
“From a broad overview of our client base there seemed like there was insufficient use to justify the cost to develop and maintain the offering”, IG has confirmed.
More than two years and a half since IG Group Holdings plc (LON:IGG) launched its trading app on the Apple Watch, the company confirms that it no longer offers the solution.
Replying to questions from traders on whether the IG app for Apple Watch is still available or not, a company representative has confirmed that the solution is no longer a part of the broker’s offering. The company attributes the change to low demand.
Below is the statement by IG’s representative:
“Hi all – sorry to report that the Apple Watch app has indeed gone. From a broad overview of our client base there seemed like there was insufficient use to justify the cost to develop and maintain the offering.
I periodically collate all feedback submitted on IG Community, so if any other clients would like to feedback to us, please let me know”.
IG Group announced the launch of the trading app for Apple Watch in April 2015, which made the company one of the first online trading providers to launch an app for the Apple Watch, as the broker sought to provide the latest in cutting edge technology to help clients trade international markets.
The launch marked IG’s first move into wearable technology and offered a new and more instantaneous way to trade and monitor the financial markets and complemented existing mobile technology. From the onset, the solution was available in 12 languages.
The app offered personalised watch-lists that allow clients to view and open positions on the markets relevant to them. Furthermore iPhone app push notifications automatically synced with the watch to ensure clients can constantly stay on top of their trading.
The aim of the app was to simplify the trading and user experience. The features and functionality were developed to ensure clients can access markets and execute trades in a simplified and immediate manner.
IG’s mobile applications for other iOS devices are still available.
