Interactive Brokers launches “IBKR IBot Skill” for Amazon Alexa

Traders can ask Alexa for the latest market updates, real-time quotes, volume, and other market data, and general information pertaining to Interactive Brokers.

Online trading major Interactive Brokers Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:IBKR) continues to enhance its natural text interface to trading – IBot, underlying its commitment to make it easy to get market and account information quickly. The company has introduced the new “IBKR IBot Skill” for Amazon Alexa, which lets traders access Interactive Brokers’ content and data from any Alexa-enabled device, including the Echo, Dot, and Fire TV.

Alexa can install this skill for a trader through a simple voice command: “Alexa, open IBKR.” Once initiated, traders can ask Alexa for the latest market updates (which she is set to provide courtesy of briefing.com), real-time quotes, volume, and other market data, and general information pertaining to Interactive Brokers.

For instance, one can say:

  • “Alexa, get the latest market update,” or
  • “Alexa, what’s the price of apple?” or
  • “Alexa, how do I open a cash account at IB?”

Alexa responds with clear, easy-to-understand answers directly from IBot. And soon, traders are set to be able to link Alexa directly to their Interactive Brokers’ account so that she can provide account-specific answers to their questions.

Now traders can access IBot from almost anywhere, including from the IBKR Chat, the Client Services Message Center in Account Management and the Client Services page of the Interactive Brokers’ website, as well as from within IBKR Mobile apps, TWS for Desktop and the Client Portal.

Clients of the broker can leverage the speed and growing intelligence of IBot to help with their account and set up. Before they contact Client Services, they can simply ask IBot for immediate, automated help from the Tips for Best Service tab of the Contact Us > Client Services page of Interactive Brokers’ website.

In addition, the company has added an IBot FAQ Browser to its website for quick access to detailed answers to specific questions in our proprietary FAQ database. One can access the IBot FAQ Browser from the Education > Browse FAQs menu on Interactive Brokers’ website.

Early this year, IBot started guiding traders through the process of creating a powerful, custom Accumulate/Distribute algo thanks to a series of simple questions. Accumulate/Distribute was designed to help traders buy or sell large quantities over time, minimizing market impact by submitting orders in smaller components, randomizing size and time.

To create an Accumulate/Distribute algo using IBot, traders should simply enter an Accumulate/Distribute-relevant command, such as “accumulate 2300 shares of IBKR” or “distribute 2300 shares of IBKR” or “buy 3000 shares of IBKR using accu/dist algo” etc. IBot will present a series of simple parameters for the trader to complete.
