Following Rajesh Yohannan’s departure from OANDA Corporation’s Asia Pacific division recently, it has not taken long for a prominent electronic trading company to appoint him to a leadership position.

The firm in question is Australia’s AxiTrader, of which he has become CEO, based in Sydney, Australia.

AxiTrader is the FX and retail electronic trading arm of AxiCorp, whose long term CEO and Chairman was Goran Drapac, who Mr. Yohannan now supersedes.

In addition to retail FX, AxiCorp has its own prime brokerage, AxiPrime, which Mr. Yohannan will also preside over.

Mr. Yohannan is a bastion of sophistication, and is a regular speaker at conferences on subjects ranging from execution and how to structure a retail brokerage, to prime brokerage and liquidity provision across global markets, drawing on his vast knowledge of the non-bank and interbank FX sector.

During a very interesting discussion in Shanghai late last year, Mr. Yohannan explained to FinanceFeeds “Industry executives such as brokers and liquidity providers are concentrating on the way that a trade is executed, including how low the latency is, often spending huge resources on increasing execution speed, and how the liquidity is aggregated” he said.

“These factors are important to brokerages, but are of very little consequences to retail traders” said Mr. Yohannan.

Prior to joining AxiTrader this month, Mr. Yohannan was Managing Director and CEO of OANDA Corporation’s Asia Pacific operations, based in Singapore, a position that he held for three years.

He is a fine ambassador for OANDA Corporation, standing out the high quality of leaders that the company both produces and appoints.

Last week, Former Saxo Bank senior executive Kazuaki Takabatake was appointed CEO of OANDA Corporation’s APAC operations, assuming Mr. Yohannan’s previous position.

Mr. Takabatake had previously been CEO of Saxo Capital Markets in Singapore for 7 years.

Joining OANDA Corporation from Citibank in March 2013, Mr. Yohannan’s interbank career with the world’s largest interbank FX dealer by volume spanned five years, from his appointment as Regional Head for CitiPhone Sales in January 2006 for the Asia Pacific region, to Managing Director at Citibank’s eBusiness & Direct Banking division, where he headed the Asia Pacific operations.

Graduating in 2000 from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta with an MBA, Mr. Yohannan began his illustrious career, and here’s hoping that whilst at AxiTrader, his insightful anecdotes and detailed, accurate perspectives will continue to punctuate the most prestigious industry conferences and events.
