Nomura adds Philip Hammond to Advisory Board
Nomura appoints Chartsiri Sophonpanich, President of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, and Philip Hammond, former Member of Parliament and Chancellor of the Exchequer, as new members of its Advisory Board.
Nomura Holdings Inc (TYO:8604) today announces that it has appointed two new Advisory Board members – Chartsiri Sophonpanich, President of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, and Philip Hammond, former Member of Parliament and Chancellor of the Exchequer, as new members.
The Rt Hon Philip Hammond was Chancellor of the Exchequer between 13 July 2016 and 24 July 2019. He was elected Conservative MP for Runnymede and Weybridge in 1997.
He was previously Secretary of State for Transport from May 2010, when he was appointed as a Privy Counsellor. Prior to this, he held a number of shadow portfolios. He was elected to Parliament in 1997 and was Secretary of State for Defence from 2011 until July 2014. Philip Hammond served as Foreign Secretary from July 2014 until July 2016.
Outside politics, he had a business career in small and medium-sized companies in manufacturing, consultancy, property and construction, and oil and gas, both in the UK and abroad.
Chartsiri Sophonpanich and Philip Hammond join current Advisory Board members Mr. Goh Chok Tong and Mr. Deepak Parekh, who have been on the board since April 2015.
Nomura first established its Advisory Board in 2001 to advise the firm’s Executive Management Board, which is responsible for making decisions on business execution. The purpose of the board is to receive advice and suggestions on Nomura’s business and overall management from external leaders with extensive expertise in business and management.
