Obituary: Andrew Edwards, an example to us all
Andrew Edwards passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020 at home. A gentleman, family man and an example to all of us in the electronic trading industry.

Today is a very sad day for all of us in the FX industry worldwide, as we have lost one of our esteemed senior executive, who on a personal note was an all round good man as well as a professional of the highest caliber.
It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Andrew Edwards, who led Saxo Bank’s UK division, Saxo Capital Markets Ltd in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer.
I personally had the privilege of knowing Mr Edwards, who represented the most strident levels of decency and professionalism throughout his illustrious career, and am as personally saddened by this loss as no doubt are others who had worked with him over the years.
Mr Edwards, who came to the United Kingdom over 25 years ago to study at the University of Bath following an exemplary Batchelor of Science degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa joined the FX industry in September 2000 at City Index in London, where he headed up the US Equities Desk for three years.
His most widely acknowledged position, however, was fourteen years at ETX Capital, where he was CEO for just over eight years, with senior positions at the company leading to his promotion to CEO for the six years previous.
This length of tenure at the top of one of the UK’s most prominent CFD and FX companies is testimony to Mr Edwards’ affable personality, integrity and talented leadership skills, a legacy which will no doubt be missed.
In December 2017, Mr Edwards joined Saxo Capital Markets Ltd in London, as CEO, a position he held until his passing, and a position for which he was highly respected.
Our condolences and thoughts are with Mr Edwards’ family and close friends, and the contribution he made to our industry will remain in long memory.
A gentleman, family man and ethical businessman, we will miss him.
