IG clients get to access Community from web trading platform
This marks IG’s continued efforts to increase the amount of trade ideas and strategy pieces in the web trading platform.

The team behind IG Community, the forum for traders and those willing to get in touch with online trading major IG Group Holdings plc (LON:IGG) in a more informal environment, has just posted an update on the recent changes concerning the forum.
In a move that underlines IG’s continued efforts to increase the amount of trade ideas and strategy pieces in the web trading platform, Live and Demo clients of the broker can now access Community threads from within the platform. This will specifically showcase the very latest threads from the ‘Strategy and Market Discussion’ board based on the ‘most recent new thread post’ hierarchy.
The change follows efforts such as including Reuters news and video, IGTV live video, and analyst articles into the platform. IG’s team says they are at a stage where they can produce a single news page which will collate all these channels in single view (with granular insight available on the click through). More information is expected when this functionality is live.

To access Community from within the web trading platform:
- News – from the left hand menu;
- Community – from the top level navigation;
- Add to workspace – if you’re looking to add the news section as a permanent feature.
Let’s recall that, in the summer of 2018, IG Community expanded its reach, as guests were allowed to post without necessarily needing to be logged into Community. In order to make sure that all content is still relevant and interesting, the IG Community team asserts that all guest posts have to be approved by a moderator before being publicly visible.
In terms of features that were recently introduced to the platform, let’s note enabling of traders to add % Range to watchlists and the deal position preview functionality. The latter is automatically enabled on the new dealing platform.
When filling in a deal ticket, new visual features will appear on the graph. When the direction (buy or sell) is selected, a shaded area will appear above (if buying) or below (if selling) the current price. This area will display the price the market needs to touch to profit from the transaction. The shaded area will not start from the price the trader executed the trade at, as the market needs to move in trader’s favour by the size of the spread before being at break-even.
